  • Lead Studio & Digital Imaging Technician London The role: QA has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Lead Studio & Digital Imaging Technician to join a well established team in the London HQ office. The overall purpose of the role is improving the quality and efficiency of our studio operations. This will include contributing to the design and setup of our studio space, improving the speed and robustness of data wrangling from each shoot, as well as managing the studio schedule. Responsibilities: • Manage day-to-day operations of the studios at St Katherine’s Dock, including the definitive schedule of studio bookings • Lead on setup of studios for each shoot day, taking requirements from Senior Video Producers • Support on shoots in various roles including but not limited to camera operator, video producer and audio technician (on QA sites but also on location for bespoke requirements) • Help develop and maintain processes for edit notes, source footage backup and footage distribution • Own file management and best practices in relation to consistent naming conventions, storage and distribution of footage • Help progress QA’s video styles and methods, to improve quality and effectiveness as a medium for learning • Keep digital assets well organised using good housekeeping to ensure maximum re-use of assets and avoid any unnecessary additional work across the team About you: • Very strong technical skills in cameras, lighting and sound (including both physical sets and green screen technology) • Excellent organisational and communication skills to manage studio schedule and setup • Strong video production skills, behind the camera but also in post-production • Extensive experience using Vimeo and Frame IO platforms to manage, distribute and review content • Highly proficient when handling, setting up, using, and maintaining video production equipment- lighting, camera, lenses, microphones, sliders, tripods, backgrounds, gimbals, audio recorders and autocues • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite- Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator • Understanding of how compression works and highly proficient in compression tools, settings, and best practices • Highly proficient understanding of video principles, including bitrates, framerates, and resolutions A little more about QA: QA is one of the largest learning services organisations in the UK, developing skills and capabilities for everyone from apprentices to business leaders. Key Responsibilities • Provide guidance and advice to academic staff on the application of Northumbria University’s procedures (ARTA regulations) for a designated portfolio of programmes. • Support for progression and awards boards including preparation prior to the board and communicating student awards and progressions post board. • Supporting academic misconduct meetings.  • Support for Student-Staff Programme Committee meetings and the facilitation of good practice in the programme. • Assessment monitoring including invigilation, arranging exam paperwork and exam-packs • Liaising with London Programme Leaders to ensure Programme Handbooks are up to date at the start of the year and new intakes. • Manage the London Programme Support mailbox and resolve queries. Skills / Experience Required • Previous experience in administration. •Experience working with international students and home students • Demonstrable success in building good relationships with key internal and external parties. • Experience of multi-tasking and delivery to agreed timescale • Experience of planning and organising the activities of self and/or others. Design stage: • Lead on course design workshop meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design the overall, high level course structure. • Develop content outline documents in partnership with SMEs including selecting the appropriate learning mode for each topic. • Work with the Product Owner to ensure the design fits with the overall vision for the product portfolio and/or client requirement. Development stage: • Work with SMEs to gather and refine the raw content required to develop engaging digital learning courses. (Source content will typically include text, diagrams and initial recording of content by SMEs.) • Write high quality digital learning content to convey complex and technical subjects in plain English. (For blended learning, this could include courseware (ie e-books) or text for elements on the digital learning platform.) • Script high quality content and develop storyboards for videos and animations. • Work collaboratively as part of a Sprint team, together with Graphic Designers and Video Producers to ensure the end products meet the original design specification. Implementation stage: • Handover content and course specification documentation to the platforms and publishing team to ensure a seamless transition from design to build.
