  • Disability ADVISOR (Higher Education Sector) QA Higher Education Birmingham, Fulltime, Maternity Contract Some home working, mainly Mon-Friday office hours, with one evening until 8pm weekly and the possibility of one Saturday per month (with overtime pay for both evening and Saturday cover).             Are you currently a Disability Advisor preferably within the Education sector and ideally qualified to level 7 in Learning Difficulties and Disabilities? About our role:  As Disability Advisor you will support the development and delivery of services related to inclusive practice, and disability-related support for our degree apprenticeship programmes, and our undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. Here’s what’s involved: Meeting with a high volume of students to review and discuss reasonable adjustments (such as additional exam arrangements) and following pre-determined processes to administer follow-up and communication with relevant staff Establishing and developing support for students in using assistive technology and helping to develop an Assistive Technology suite Working as part of a team to identify, develop and promote new initiatives to support students with additional learning needs Supporting students with their applications for Disabled Students Allowance Supporting the administration of learning support funding claims for Degree apprenticeships Developing links with the faculties across the University to promote inclusive learning and teaching Bring your experience: You will have experience of providing expert one-to-one advice to disabled students or students with complex needs, including multi-agency liaison (essential) Proven track record of supporting individuals in crisis (essential) Experience in working in Higher Education (desirable) You will have a proven track record of developing and/or implementing inclusive policy and practice in an organisational context (desirable) Practical working knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 in relation to all protected characteristics and a sound grasp of the legal aspects of supporting disabled students Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 Level 7 qualification in Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (ideally) A working knowledge of assistive technology (e.g. mind mapping software) and its application to study is desirable.   A little more about QA: Students preparing for undergraduate study. Our role is predominately Monday – Friday 9am – 5.30pm with some Saturdays required throughout the year.   • EAP Lecturer 7-month full-time fixed term contract Southampton, QA Higher Education F2F teaching onsite at Solent University Campus EAP Lecturer for our Foundation (level 3) and PSE programmes About our role: Due to planned growth within our business, we are seeking to enhance our faculty with experienced English for Academic Purposes lecturers delivering EAP provision on a range of programmes at our centre at Solent University in Southampton. This is a fixed-term (7 months), full-time role and you may be required to teach F2F on campus at Solent University on a variety of English Language (EAP) and Academic Skills programmes, including the following: International Foundation Programme (Level 3) Maritime English Preparation Course for Cadets Pre-sessional English Programme (summer 2022) Your key responsibilities To plan, prepare and deliver teaching on a range of English Language (EAP) and Academic Skills lessons. To ensure all associated duties, including the preparation of classes, marking and timely feedback are performed to the required standard. To deliver classes within the prescribed course syllabus for each programme and ensure that all aspects of the course delivery, both teaching and teaching related, meet the stated aims and learning outcomes. To provide regular progression reports for students studying on our EAP programmes.
