Key Responsibilities:
As a Learning Designer you will:
• build strong working relationships with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain in depth understanding of the course content, learning objectives, and learners’ skills requirements.
• collaborate with SMEs to design high quality, engaging and innovative blended learning programmes for QA’s core products and bespoke courses for individual client requirements.
• design digital blended learning programmes which integrate seamlessly with the live event and application in the workplace stages.
• storyboard and script digital learning content and assets by applying instructional/learning design principles to effectively develop learners’ skills and knowledge.
• update and maintain course specification and content documentation, ensuring that it is accurate, version controlled, and quality assured.
• adhere to accessibility and copyright standards.
• work collaboratively and iteratively in Sprint teams with other Learning Designers, Creative Producers, Video Producers, and Graphic Designers.
Analysis stage:
• Review and analyse data, and conduct qualitative research to understand the learners’ and client’s requirements for each blended learning programme.
Design stage:
• Lead on course design workshop meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design the overall, high level course structure.
• Develop content outline documents in partnership with SMEs including selecting the appropriate learning mode for each topic.
• Work with the Product Owner to ensure the design fits with the overall vision for the product portfolio and/or client requirement.
Development stage:
• Work with SMEs to gather and refine the raw content required to develop engaging digital learning courses. (Source content will typically include text, diagrams and initial recording of content by SMEs.)
• Write high quality digital learning content to convey complex and technical subjects in plain English. (For blended learning, this could include courseware (ie e-books) or text for elements on the digital learning platform.)
• Script high quality content and develop storyboards for videos and animations.
• Work collaboratively as part of a Sprint team, together with Graphic Designers and Video Producers to ensure the end products meet the original design specification.
Implementation stage:
• Handover content and course specification documentation to the platforms and publishing team to ensure a seamless transition from design to build.
